The client set out to create a home centred around open-plan living, with a strong connection between the kitchen, dining, and outdoor areas. Retaining expansive northern views was a key driver, alongside the use of distinctive materials such as Italian handmade brick.
-
VDP Construction was involved from the early stages, providing input across costing, planning and project management. Working closely with both the client and architect, the project was delivered through a collaborative and transparent process, allowing for efficient decision-making and alignment throughout.
-
The sloping site and groundwater conditions required careful site reshaping to ensure adequate drainage and stability.
The design introduced a number of technical challenges, including:
Exposed structural elements requiring high levels of accuracy
Vaulted ceilings across key living areas
Integration of handmade brick internally and externally
Continuation of large exposed Prolam beams from interior to exterior
-
The project was delivered to a high standard, successfully balancing design intent with buildability.
Early site challenges were resolved without long-term impact and the use of specialised materials was executed with precision to achieve a refined and consistent finish. The result is a well-considered home that delivers on both functionality and architectural vision, supported by a strong working relationship between client, architect and builder.
